FLORSHEIM BLUES
Every once in a while I’d be feeling totally
mentalblocless, so I’d then ask a fellow poet
for two lines to begin a poem with… and I
would try to finish it; so back in ’06 I asked
one of Venice’s top bards, Steve Goldman, for
the aforementioned two lines. At this point I
noticed a small light start circling above his
head, he then looked straight down his leg and
said…

-Collect the shoes
of living people,
examine for steps
not taken…
-Mistreated leather…
number of red lights
crossed against…
times when “ran”
would’ve been better
“walked”.
-How close
have they brought you
to the precipice?
-How often have they veered you,
away from truth?
