HERE AND THERE

(’08) Another experimental poem, taking some Rumi lines
(the ones with an asterisk*) & mixing them with a few
of my own.)

* Many of the faults
* you see in others,
* dear reader,
* are your own nature,
* reflected in them.

We are many, we are one, ///
we hunger, we eat,,,
we thirst, we drink,)))
we give, we take,(((
we build, we destroy,)))
we teach, we learn.\\\

Many of the good things
* you see in others,
* dear reader,
* are your own nature
* reflected in them.

ST. JULIAN STREET

(’08) ST. JULIAN STREET is right in the middle of skid row,
in Los Angeles, one or two blocks from Wall St., where I once
resided, back in ’58) – This is one of my collaborative poems,
where I take a few lines from a famous poet’s work & add a
few words of mine & voilá! Sometimes it works, sometimes…
(the lines with the asterisk are Rumi’s>)
=+X+X+X+X++++=x=x=x=xx==xx===x=x==x=x>>

* In every corner
* there are drunkards,
* arm in arm,
discussing important matters…

…preference of bottle shape,,,
alcohol content,
drunk-tank ratings…
where to take a leak…

Dante-approved
hell on Earth.

ONENESS

(’08) I don’t have a single book of poetry to
my name… some people write for fame and have
12 books; I’m too lazy! (I do have 1,200+ in the blog.)

My cure for writer’s bloc is to borrow a line
or two from a famous writer & and mix them with something
of mine. This time I took three lines
from a Rumi poem, each one is marked at its beginning
with an asterisk*
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *////////////////>

* Your soul
* is so close
* to mine…

Where I go,
you go…

My thoughts
of love
don’t have to travel
far.

THE CALM BEFORE THE CALM

(’09) I enjoy collaborating with other poets;
I wrote this one with Ellen of Malibu (sorry,
Ellen, forgot your last name.) The two lines that show
asterisks are hers, the rest are mine.

+!+!+!+!+!+!+!+!+!+!+!+!+!+!+!+!+!+!+!+!+!+!+!+!+..

* After you die,
* there’s no envy
anymore…
only peace,
and a large chunk
of eternity.
