WONDERING

– What should I write about?

– I know///
a poem to the galaxies
& their billions of stars
& the vastness of the universe,,,

– Or one to planet Earth,
its oceans & the Seven Wonders of the World…

– Or, to the origin, evolution,
history & untimely death,
of the ant crawling on the page.

– Had to be you in the dream,,,
same carefree chuckle,
same perfume,
same high intensity sexuality,
same way of disappearing
without saying goodbye.

WHEN THE BIRDS DON’T SING ANYMORE

(’94)

]=]=]=]]=]=]=]=]=]]=]=]=]=]=]=]]==]>>>>>KK>

– Part of the Earth dies,
when the birds don’t sing anymore,,,
the air becomes heavy
with no trills to pierce it.

– Says one flying bird to another,
“Humans are unpredictable,
but in one respect they’re very consistent,
they’re always either burning,
or destroying our forests,
our homes.”

– “C’mon, let’s keep flying…
maybe we’ll find another forest,
far, far away,
where no bird ever heard
of humans.”
