BALLAD OF THE WALKING POODLE

(’79 – ’80)

\/\/\/\/\\/\/\/\/\\/\/\/\/\/\\/\/\/\/\/\/>>>

-In the kennel of life,
I wag my own tail///
when I do do-do,
it’s always at the curb…

– My fur is always shiny
& I only wear
Sergeant’s designer collars…

– My bark is louder
than my intentions,,,
bigger poodles scare the Purina
out of me!

– Once, my master drove by the pound
& I wet the car carpet…

– Holy mutt! There’s Fifi, by the hydrant…
“Hey, Fifi, you wanna… woof!?
Oh, got a headache, eh?”

– And so, on this sad note,
ends the ballad of the walking poodle.

IMMIGRANT

(’84) This one might be an encore
appearance… one of my favorites.)

\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\\/\/\/\>>

– We are immigrant
to our bodies,
our bodies are immigrant
to the Earth,,,
the Earth is immigrant
to the space it displaces
in the universal scheme.

– Immigrants all,
to this eternity.

OUTER SPACE YARN

(’71 – ’72)

\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\}}>>

– Just the other millennium
I was at the exact spot
where the atmosphere ends
& outer space begins.

– If I moved one way a few inches
I felt I weighed minus 50 pounds;
if I moved in the opposite direction
all of my insides would return
from whence they had been.

– It was very strange,
a feeling of reality on one side,
as well as on the other,
but nothing real in-between…

– I spit and half floats up, earthbound,,,
the other half just sits there,
as if waiting for a celestial
windshield wiper.

AISLE 12

(’79) Back then I used to get together with my
friend Mitch Portnoy & we’d write funny little
pieces, such as…

-“Libby, I’m Heinz,
and this is my Spanish friend,
Del Monte.”

TIME TRAVEL

(’08)

\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/>>

– Tomorrow!

– what a surprise
wasn’t expecting you
for hours…

– So now that you’re here,
what are your plans today,
Tomorrow?

– What!?
You can’t quit
in the middle of evolution,,,
at least not until tomorrow…
I’m counting on you today,
Tomorrow!

– What do you mean,
“start the cycle all over?
are you talking Adam… Eve…?

– Please, Tomorrow,
I’m begging you…
we will learn, you’ll see…

– Give us just a few more centuries…
we’ll learn our lesson,
mañana!
