POETRYLOGUE

(FrancEyE and I used to exchange poems; five days after
she died back in ’09, I took four lines from the last
poem I had received from her & added a few of my own, as
a tribute to a great lady, the former Mrs. Bukowski).
The first four lines are hers:

Navajo woman
who said to me
near Albuquerque, “you
must be a poet…

-I write poems,
how did you know?

Some people
are poems…
walking & talking
poems –
not everyone
can see them
as poems,
but I can…

-Navajo lady,
if I’m a poem
I’d like a title…
how about
‘How Do You Say
‘Thank you’
in Navajo?”
