SOUTHERN DISCOMFORT
(’78) In the old days, I used to travel a
lot on business.

-Tanker truck, trailer truck,
freeway day,
in Tobaccoland, Richmond, VA.
-Went about the city
with all the obvious symptoms
of homesickness…
protruding anxiety,
while L.A.-watching,
from a distance.
-Sit in my aesthetic, synthetic,
Holiday Inn,
with nothing to do but
scratch my ass,
to offer an itching index,
relief…
-On Route 95,
a funeral procession…
-Looks like the Marlboro Man
smoked one too many.
