(one of my early efforts, ’68 or ’69)

-As long as you’re leaving
your crocodile on my bed, Fred,
make damn sure
the thing has been fed,
and have the courtesy
to unleash him,
so when I turn off the light
and wish him good night,
I don’t get all tangled up…

-also, I’m taking your word
he’s vegetarian
and strictly heterosexual.

-By the way,
I don’t mind if he snores, but…
could you please get him to gargle
with Lavoris?
