THE DAY AFTER
(wrote this on 11/20/83, the day after the
presentation of the TV show titled “The Day After”,
in which they depicted the aftermath of an atomic
war among nations.)

-No worldwide obliteration,
yet,
only the usual wars on Channel 2,
in countries where many people don’t care
if they’re dead or alive.
-After so many years of the same,
can they really feel pain?
They must be too numb
from the constant destruction,
severed limbs, dead children…
pestilence.
-No worldwide obliteration,
yet… no “Day After” –
the world still is
in as many pieces as ever.
