THE OPERATION

-Friday, January 8th,
five minutes late
for my eyelid operation
to remove a benign lump.
-Dr. Goodman is great!
Under local anesthesia
I hardly feel any pain,
& when I think
he’s just getting started,
he tells me, “I’m done!”
-Whew! What a relief!
-Then… panic!
for a few seconds
I get this awful feeling
that he’s going to tell me,
“Hey, listen…
I forgot to do something.”
& start digging again!
-Luckily, it was just my
eyemagination.
