NERO WOOLF’S LAST CASE

(’74 – ’75)

\/\/\/\/\\/\/\/\/\\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\\/M\/>>

– CHAPTER 1

– The clues were many…
fraternizing with clichés
& ‘ing’ endings,
undetermined sentences,
22-caliber puns…

– The Poet Patrol surrounds
his unlicensed poem factory…

– “Luís, c’mon out with your Royal up…
turn in your images!”

– Defiantly, he shouts,
– – “Truth is a myth!”

– CHAPTER 2

– “How do you plead guilty or else?”

– – “Innocent, by reasonable dissonance.”

– “The State will prove collusion
between the accused
and the Benevolent Union of Rhyming Poets,
or BURP.”

– Famous attorney Kuntzler B. Poetaster
argues for the defense:

– “Your honor, in the best plea bargaining tradition,
my client changes his stanza
to nolo bullshitus.”

– – “Motion denied! You’re ordered to attend
a Rod McKuen reading, or 30 days!”

JOHN, PAUL, GEORGE & RINGO

(’95 – ’18) Deirdre O’Donahue, RIP, was a lady who hosted
“Breakfast with the Beatles” every Sunday on one of
the main FM outlets; I dedicated the poem to her &
she read it on the program, which was a special treat for me.

– The most Magical Mystery of all…

– The Beatles!

– – “Love, love me do,
you know I love you…”

– Cycles & stars,
alignment of planets,
convergence of ideas,,,
the Muse of Creativity’s
coitus non-interruptus///
the molecular structure
of Lucy in the Sky,
see how they fly…

– – “Once there was a way,
to get back home,
once there was a way…”

– Would you believe
there are still people
who refuse to acknowledge
we all live in a Yellow Submarine?!

– – “Full speed ahead, Mr. Crawford…”

– Beatles music forever,
Across the Universe.

YOKO

(John Lennon died December 8, 1980; wrote
this around that time.)

/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\>>

– The day after December 7,
the Japanese woman cries…

– The world goes ’round & ’round,
a Sgt. Pepper record
warped by madness.

TOMORROW

(’81 – ’18)

/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\=>>

– Adverb, page 1981 –
Fate’s Unabridged…

– In human Scrabble,
worth 3 points…

-Easy to misspell
its meaning…

– Some see it in bright lights,
others feel ill at ease,,,
see darkness…

– Could still be a good word.

– We keep making it rhyme with sorrow.
